Will my program accept the Practicum Logbook?

The logbook is organized around the CEPH accreditation framework that accredited MPH programs work within, and its competency worksheets follow the 22 CEPH Foundational Competencies. That means the categories you record in it (hours, competency evidence, reflections, supervisor verification) line up with what most programs ask students to show.

Every program still sets its own rules, though. The logbook is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to CEPH or any university, so it can't stand in for forms your program requires.

How it fits alongside program requirements

Treat the logbook as your working record, and your university's forms as the official submission. During the semester, you capture daily activities, competency connections, and weekly sign-offs in the logbook. When a form, portal entry, or evaluation is due, you pull the specifics from it instead of relying on memory.

What to ask your practicum coordinator

• Do you require a specific hour-tracking template or online system?
• What documentation do you need at the midpoint and at completion?
• Do preceptor signatures have to go on a program form, or is other verification accepted?
• Are there competency or deliverable formats I need to follow?

Asking these early fits the broader habit of mapping all your practicum paperwork before deadlines arrive. If your program has its own template, you can still use the logbook for the detail behind it, such as reflections and specific outcomes. Those details are what make your formal submissions convincing.
