What makes a remote practicum work

• Substantive projects. Remote students are more likely to end up with busywork. Before you start, agree on concrete deliverables. Data analysis and visualization, literature reviews, policy briefs, program evaluation plans, training materials, and resource guides all work well remotely.
• A check-in rhythm. Set a regular meeting with your preceptor and agree on how to handle urgent questions. If you're in different time zones, protect a few overlapping hours for live conversation.
